Meet Vanessa
Your steady guide through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
Twelve years ago, I began working as a Head Start home visitor. While the position focused on collecting records, but my passion quickly grew beyond paperwork. I found myself counseling clients on birth preparation, offering postpartum support such as safe sleep and feeding guidance, and tracking babies' milestones. I have helped families navigate resources like breast pumps, WIC, and job programs.
My work is grounded in evidence-based care, nervous system awareness, and practical support that helps families feel capable during one of life's biggest transitions.
I have trained with DONA, ABG and ProDoula, with additional trainings in Spinning Babies, lactation education, Karen Strange, safe sleep and pace feeding practices.
My background also includes experience as an Air Force veteran and a classically-trained French chef. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development, along with CPR and food safety certifications.
All this to provide you with highest quality of care and information.
Nurturing Care Through Every Stage
Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are each their own kind of transformation and often they don't go according to plan. Things happen! Your body is changing. Your priorities are shifting. Whether you're preparing to meet this little one or are already holding them---you shouldn't and don't have to do this alone.
Maybe you're figuring it out: how you want to give birth--Epidural? No epidural? Your thighs and hips and lower back and butt ache. Your partner wants to help but has no clue where to start. Or maybe you're home navigating hormonal shifts, carrying a lot more than you did just a few days ago. Figuring out breastfeeding, so thirsty and swollen.
It's a lot. And it's okay if you don't exactly know what you need. You don't have to have it all figured out. We can talk through it, together.
One of the most difficult parts of entering motherhood is that it’s hard to plan for.
In your pocket offering you steady, skilled, grounded support throughout it all.

Why This Work Matters to Me
My path to becoming a doula wasn’t a straight line and it began long before I formally entered this work.
Years ago, while serving in the Air Force, I went through a serious medical experience that required extensive treatment and countless interactions with the healthcare system. During that time, I learned firsthand how overwhelming medical things can feel when you’re scared, vulnerable, and trying to make sense of complicated information about your own body.
That experience shaped the way I see care.
I know how important it is to feel heard, respected, and fully informed about what’s happening to you. No one should feel lost in their own care or unsure about the choices they’re making.
Later, while working as a Head Start home visitor, I began supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and early parenthood. I quickly realized that many parents were navigating the same kinds of uncertainty I had experienced — trying to sort through advice, medical information, and big decisions during one of the most vulnerable seasons of life.
Becoming a doula felt like a natural extension of that work.
Today, I bring both professional training and lived experience into the way I support families. My goal is simple: to help parents feel informed, steady, and supported as they move through pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks with their baby.

Pocket Notes
Real words from families supported.
I worked with Vanessa as my birth doula, and she helped me have an unmedicated birth that wouldn't have been possible without her. She was also very supportive when I considered an epidural. I appreciate the flexible approach based on my needs and wants.
