More Than Newborn Care

The fourth trimester, gently held.

The fourth trimester is a time of healing, adjustment, and learning for your baby and for you.

At Pocket Doula Care, we believe exceptional postpartum support begins with caring for the recovering parent while nurturing the newest member of your family. Our family centered, mother focused, evidence-informed approach helps protect your rest, support your recovery, and build your confidence as you settle into life with your baby. We honor traditional postpartum wisdom alongside modern clinical knowledge, because both matter, and because nourishment, rest, and steady presence are the oldest forms of care there are.

Sometimes what you need is overnight newborn care so you can sleep for more than two hours at a stretch. Sometimes it's help reaching your feeding goals, or a warm meal ready so you can finally sit down and eat, or an hour to shower without listening for the baby. Sometimes it's simply having someone experienced in the house you can ask a question without feeling silly. We don't only care for babies. We care for the people becoming parents, the ones who are brave and exhausted, hopeful and overwhelmed, recovering and becoming new versions of themselves.

Pocket Doula Care serves families throughout Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Pflugerville, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Buda, Kyle, and Dripping Springs.

A mother holds her newborn in soft morning light.

Postpartum care is where recovery truly begins. Together, we’ll focus on rest, healing, newborn care, feeding, and practical education so you feel supported, prepared, and confident long after our time together ends.

Every family is different, so every support plan is thoughtfully customized to fit your home, your schedule, and your goals.

What our care includes

Support that meets you at home.

Here is what the care looks like, and what it tends to make possible.

Newborn care & soothing

You get real, uninterrupted sleep while someone experienced holds the night.

Lactation & feeding support

Fewer 3 a.m. questions you have to answer alone, and steadier progress toward your goals.

Healing & recovery education

Room to recover as a person, not only to manage everyone else.

Emotional support

Another calm adult in the house, and somewhere to put the hard days.

Sibling adjustment

Your older child still gets attention while you're focused on the baby.

Light meal prep & tidying

You can eat something warm and sit in a room that isn't working against you.

Overnight care, when you need sleep most

Mornings that start with rest behind you instead of a night to survive.

Referrals to trusted local providers

Less mental load. You don't have to research everything yourself.

A team behind your care

One primary doula. A team behind you.

Your postpartum care is personal and relationship-based. You’ll work with a member of the Pocket Doula Care team who gets to know your family, your routines, and what support actually helps. Behind that relationship is a team that can step in when schedules, illness, or changing needs require additional coverage.

Pocket Notes

Words from the fourth trimester.

The things families tucked into our pocket after their journey.

  • We’ve had the pleasure of working with Vanessa whom was great at making sure I was taking my meds on time as well as observing my breast feeding which my milk was just starting to come in. We were also in our cluster feeding stage which was rough to get through. She helped recommend incorporating a binky as she noticed our girl was trying to soothe herself not necessarily needing to eat. This was a GAME changer for us and honestly something we wouldn’t be able to pick up on since we had no idea what we were doing.

Still pregnant?

The support you want after birth can begin before your baby arrives.

If your baby hasn't arrived yet, it's worth knowing that birth support and postpartum support come from the same relationship. Meeting your doula while you're still pregnant means the person walking into your home afterward already knows your family. No pressure either way, and plenty of families choose one or the other.
